Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between stress and constipation in female high school students.

Method: Data were collected using a structural questionnaire which included general characteristics, stress and the status of stool elimination. Data collection was done between May 27th and 29th with 331 female high school students.

Result: The degree of stress for the participants was 3.52 and 51.7% reported constipation. This result shows that stress was significantly related to constipation.

Conclusion: Nursing education program should be developed to prevent serious health problem in female high school students
